Common Causes Of Blocked sinks

Blocked sinks are one of the most common plumbing issues people call us for. Blocked sinks can become a major issue if you don’t fix them. These blockages require professional help as even a small DIY can become the root cause for a bigger drain issue. It can cause long-term problems such as corrosion, slow water drainage, etc.

Sinks can be blocked for several reasons. It is something you have put down usually as it is rare that the waste is falling backward, but it does happen.

If you have a waste disposer, then you may not have used it properly and not started it with water going down it first then put in food scraps in a large quantity, and now the sink is blocked.

If you have a plunger, you may be able to use that vigorously to dislodge the blockage. If that does not work, then use a wet vac to pull the blockage out.

If you have poured fat down the sink, it has likely congealed and set hard. If there is some movement in the water, then using very hot water may melt the blockage, and you are back in business.

If not, we can sometimes dismantle the waste and put a machine down the sink waste to unblock it. Most of these jobs are usually small in terms of time to unblock them.
