Bathroom Improvements
There are lots of things that we can do to bring a bathroom up to date here is a check list of some of them –
- Change lights to LED
- Remove walls dividing old wooden showers this makes the bathroom a lot bigger and easier to clean.
- Get rid of old Seratone lined showers and install a round cornered glass lined shower enclosure they are the best as there is not water dripping on the floor from the door opening.
- Upgrade shower mixers to lever action mixers.
- If showers are low pressure at least get the cold upgraded to high pressure, and both if you have a high pressure water heater.
- Low pressure is ok if the piping system is designed for it but all piping must be copper and 20mm to the shower.
- Change the toilet to a toilet suite. Preferably back to wall and soft close seat.
- Wall hung pans are great but a lot more expensive they make small bathrooms bigger and and they are easier to clean. Allow about $2000 extra to install a wall hung pan. This includes the cost of the system including the cistern and installation.
- Wall hung Vanities are great and like wall hung toilets also make the bathroom bigger. They are different from floor mounted vanities in that they have the waste inside the wall and not passing through the vanity especially if they have drawers which we strongly recommend. The old door types are hard to get things out of and you have to take things out of them to find stuff as opposed to drawers you just look to find stuff. You can get a lot more in drawers.
- Basins are great but you need storage like a wall cupboard. There are vertical types.
- Windows in side showers – avoid if at all possible. If you cannot get rid of them install acrylic window liners.
- Install white tiles along the back of vanities
- Install the largest tiles you can find. Do not install small tiles the bathroom will look smaller and its a cleaning nightmare. If you have to install small tiles or decorative stuff do it at high level.
