History
The firm started in 1982 as Brennan Plumbing and later changed its name to Southern Plumbing & Gasfitting Ltd.
Training the team is a large part of the day to day activities. Almost immediately we started training others as there were few skilled plumbers available. Since then we have trained dozens of apprentices some of whom now have their own businesses , are training their own apprentices and wish to challenge the master.
Current
Although we started in the contracting sector of the industry we now concentrate solely on the service area. This involves gearing the firm to do thousands of small jobs, some of a highly technical nature.
A specialty is our gas servicing area and emergency response which the landlords and property managers enjoy.
The firm has expanded into most of the other building maintenance areas including Eco plumbing, carpentry, roofing, electrical and painting and decoration.
Facts and Figures
We were one of the first computerised plumbing firms in New Zealand and have a data base of 23,000 clients one of largest plumbing client lists in New Zealand. And its not just the size of it, its who they are also. We have a long list of well known names from All Blacks, Members of Parliament, Landlords, Property Managers, Schools, Supermarkets, Restaurants, Bars, sports clubs, and commercial buildings. Not to mention thousands of private addresses. In a number of cases we have worked at the same address for several owners and can tell you the plumbing history over many years.

Southern Plumbing pioneered this guarantee and is now copied partly by our opposition but who are not prepared to meet us on this because they cant achieve it.
Southern Plumbing trades against 350 other plumbing firms in Wellington. We have to have a reason for people to call us. We can do all the plumbing jobs other plumbing, gasfitting, drainage and roofing firms can do with one difference. We are on time or its free.

We believe common courtesy costs nothing. We don’t promise jobs we cannot do when we say.
Master Plumbers
We have been members of the master plumber for around 25 years. The principle director is a past president of both the local Wellington Association and National Organisation.
Should our firm not be able to meet its legal obligations to rectify its work. The work is covered by the Master Plumbers Guarantee but call us first.
